For more than ten years F.A.D. has produced the Hugs Not Drugs Jr. Male Pageant. The event include both male and female participants. The young boys ages 5 to 12 compete in two categories according to age 5 to 8 yrs old and the next grouping is ages 9 through 12 years old. The young boys are taught about the reasons drugs and gang violence
is not for real gentleman. They are taught to value life and themselves to become aspiring young men building on their own gifts and talents. The winners of each categoriy becomes the spokesmodel for F.A.D. for the remainder of the year. The young ladies participate by excorting the young male contestants. Over the years these young people who participate have become great friends and we have established an alumni society that becomes a right of passage into adulthood. This has proven to be very successful with a large number of participants finishing college and becoming parents and productive citizens in our communities.
